Shoe Trend: Loafers and How to Style Them
|Source: Collage Vintage
Now that it’s clear what shoe we are actually talking about, let me tell you a bit about the revival of this shoe-classic. Loafer’s been around for decades and became popular in the 1930s when students at the most prestige universities in the US started wearing them. Later on Gucci was one of the first to bring loafers to Europe, when the shoes traditionally had a leather bridge or two tassels in the front.
Loafers are perfect for a chic office look and due to new designs and variations of the classic loafer, featuring animal prints and glossy lacquer looks; this wardrobe staple has definitely conquered many fashion-lovers hearts. You can’t go wrong with combining them with ripped boyfriend jeans for a casual look or high waisted skirt and cool trench coats for a more sophisticated look.
For me they are more sophisticated than ballet flats and more office friendly than trainers and therefore a wardrobe stable, that shoudln’t be overlooked due to his posh association.
